A word about lament
In our study of the psalms, we’re talking about the role of lament. Most of us aren’t that familiar with lament as prayer. But it’s a way to pray that acknowledges God’s goodness and promise while recognizing the pain of the world.
We mentioned two resources about lament at this week’s online Bible study over the psalms.
The first is an article written for Time magazine by N.T. Wright during the onset of the Corona virus pandemic. The memorable quote from this article is, “Lament is what happens when people ask, ‘Why?’ and don’t get an answer.”
The second is an article titled Five Things to Know About Lament. It does a good job of offering a thoughtful look at lament.
