Kelsey Youth
Sunday School meets every Sunday morning at 9:45am
FYI (For Your Inspiration) will begin meeting Sunday afternoons
MISSION To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
VISION To be a ministry that guides young people in discipleship through the participation and leadership of worship, study & service.
These are the 3 priorities of our youth ministry.
Worship | To connect with God’s spirit
Worship is every person’s response to the grace of God. Our worship is not about what songs we sing or where a worship gathering happens. It’s about a heart touched by the Spirit of God, seeking to be in right relationship with the Lord.
Opportunities to engage in worship include:
- Sunday morning worship services at Kelsey
- Sunday evening worship experiences with youth group
- Midwinter & Summer camps
- Chrysalis retreat
- Outings with other churches
Study | To connect with God’s word
The study of God’s word is a priority for every Christian. The Bible directs us to the will of God. Learning how to read and study the Bible is an essential and exciting part of our faith. Through study, we grow into the people God desires us to be.
Opportunities to study the Bible include:
- Sunday School (Sundays @ 9:45am)
- FYI (For Your Inspiration)
- Bible study tools and helps (online, etc)
- Topical study groups (i.e. leadership, evangelism, prayer, etc)
Service | To connect with God’s world
God’s church is a light to the world. As such, we serve the world around us to show the love of God. We use our gifts to be servants of Christ by serving others.
Opportunities to be of service include:
- Mission trips (UM Army, etc)
- Church activities (Food pantry, clean up, events, etc)
- Christmas caroling for shut-ins
- Local projects
CORE VALUES | What we want every youth to know
Every person is loved by God
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.
John 3:16
Every person is gifted by God
The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.
Ephesians 4:11-13
Every person is called by God
You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.
John 15:16
2024-2025 GOALS | NEW GOALS FOR THIS YEAR
- Reestablish regularly scheduled youth meetings
- Welcome 7 new youth to our ministry by school’s end
MINISTRY ASSETS | What we need to grow
Adult volunteers
While we encourage youth to take their roles as leaders of God’s church today, we recognize that work is built upon the prayerful, intentional efforts of supportive adults. We cannot effectively build a youth ministry without committed adults.
Opportunities for adults to participate:
- Small group leaders
- Prayer supporters
- Fundraising Communication
- Special events
Thank you for allowing your child to be a part of the Kelsey Youth. I always look forward to getting to know everyone in our youth group and am excited to share this upcoming year with your family.
Please know I take ministry with youth seriously. It’s something I’ve committed to for more than two decades. With that in mind, here are a few promises I can make to you about my role with our Kelsey Youth.
- I will pray for our Kelsey Youth every day.
- I will treat every youth with love and respect and see that all others do as well.
- I will communicate, communicate, communicate.
- Oh, and we will have fun!
Stay blessed,
