Kelsey Notes May 2021
WHAT’S THE POINT OF BEING ONLINE?
Some people have said they can’t wait to get back to “real worship.” What they mean is the chance to be in the sanctuary. But real worship happens whenever and wherever we open our hearts to declare the glory of God. Your online worship is just as real (or unreal) as what happens in the sanctuary. Let’s be grateful that we’ve been able to use our online presence to connect with one another.
And let’s continue to use our social media platforms to connect with others outside the church. Share our Facebook posts with people you know that aren’t connected to a church. Join in on our online discussions and activities–participate. Did you know we have a YouTube channel? Use it to lead people to Sunday School classes, to hear sermons and learn what it means to follow Jesus. And don’t forget to point people to our mobile website: www.wearekelsey.info or share our daily text messages with people you know–so God can be known as a loving God!

WE’VE A STORY TO TELL TO THE NATIONS
In our Wesley tradition, Aldersgate Day, May 24th, recognizes when John Wesley felt sure of his salvation. As someone read Martin Luther’s Preface to the Epistle to the Romans (not even the book of Romans itself), he felt his heart “strangely warmed.”
Let’s use that day to think about the times God has assured us. What’s your faith story? Does it still inspire joy and hope in your heart? How so? And have you shared your story with anyone lately?
DID YOU SEE OUR EASTER PICNIC RECAP?
SANDWICH BAGS
We believe it was God! Ask Henry or Johnny why. And know there’s a group of Kelsey folks who deliver a bag with food to those in need every month after the food pantry. The bags include water, bread and sandwich meat. Plus, we include an UpperRoom devotional and a Bible. We even offer to pray for the people we meet. What should we do next? How should we serve next? We’re praying about that.

ANOTHER NOTE FOR YOU
I want you to try something. We’re used to asking, “What do you want to say to me, God?” That’s an appropriate question. Consider, though, God wants to speak to us as well. Us as the body of Christ here at Kelsey. So, here’s what I want you to do. Get ready for the next time you sing a worship song, read a daily devotional or listen to a sermon.
When you come across the word “me” (or I), replace it with “us.” Pay attention to what difference that makes. How does that connect you to the rest of the church?
