‘Do not kill’ or ‘Do not murder’?
The difference in how we interpret the sixth commandment sparks profound questions about the sanctity of life, our understanding of God’s will, and how we navigate complex moral issues. However we read it, God invites us to embrace a broader ethic of respecting all life, recognizing the image of God in every person. This challenges us to examine our attitudes towards those we might consider enemies and to choose a path of peace, following Jesus’ example of non-violence even in the face of opposition.
