Can you spot A.I.?

Technology advances rapidly now. And it’s becoming more difficult to distinguish between what’s real and what’s artificial. That’s true when it comes to images and information created by A.I (artificial intelligence).

As Christians, we are called to be truth-bearers. That relates strongly to the gospel message we carry, but it also connects to our everyday lives. At a time when so many of us have an online presence, we should be careful about what we share and what we consume. We aren’t telling the truth if we are sharing misinformation and spreading biases or falsehoods, even unintentionally.

A.I. can produce highly convincing images and articles that may look real but are, in fact, are generated–sometimes in seconds. It’s crucial to use discernment and critical thinking when engaging with digital content. Some ways to spot A.I.-generated images include looking for inconsistencies like unusual lighting, blurry details, or unnatural features. Look at the hands, for example. When reading online information, check the sources, cross-reference facts, and be wary of sensationalism.

Navigating the complexities of modern technology can feel overwhelming. Educating ourselves and helping one another spot misleading content can foster a more honest and faithful community. By doing so, we also honor God’s call to be wise and faithful stewards of the knowledge we engage with online, ensuring even our digital presence reflects the integrity of Christ.
